We are helping secure a solid infrsstructure throughout the Pittsburgh market by locating and tagging over 600,000 meters in the Pittsburgh region. The Field Data Technician operates and maintains various instruments and measuring devices to assist the Project Team in completing different types of field activities (i.e., gas utility meter and service line locations). Job responsibilities also include data collection in the field with the direction and guidance of a Project Manager. In this role, an employee will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency regarding the essential functions of the job found below.
Understand project scope by conferring with Project Team members.
Operates various field equipment (i.e., Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers, subsurface line locator, Android mobile device, and magnetic locator).
Learns basic field procedures.
Performs assigned field activities and is responsible for the collected data.
Maintains and operates the instrumentation throughout the collection process of pertinent data.
Determines if all project tasks have been completed, reviewed, and documented in compliance with the Project requirements.
Adherence to Atwell Product Quality Standards.
A valid driver’s license. - Background Check Required
Effective problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with conflicting personalities.
Creativity, foresight and good judgment to identify potential problem areas and affect a solution.
Proficiency in data collection using Trimble equipment and Android software products is
preferred but not required.
Demonstrate a basic understanding and entry-level proficiency in computer and mobile device operation.
Day to Day
Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Completion of Atwell-provided training course.
No prior experience is required.
Ability to travel within the Greater Pittsburgh Metropolitan area as dictated by job requirements. Ability to walk up to eight (8) miles per day while carrying supplies and equipment.Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds
Must be able to perform job duties in a variety of terrain.
Must be able to perform job duties in various extreme climates, in every type of weather.
Ability to take and pass the various Customer and Regulatory Safety training.
Required to wear and use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
