  • Overview

    An Engineer will support the project team by leading design aspects of the project and will address engineering issues for various projects.  In this role, an employee will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency in regards to the essential functions of the job found below.


    • Direct project team on various assignments as directed by the Project Manager, providing technical training and guidance.
    • Work with project team members and clients to prepare projects and proposals.
    • Draft, review, and finalize preliminary and final site plans, documents, and computations including, but not limited to: preparing reports, opinions, and recommendations for the approval of the Project Manager concerning the direction of the project; due diligence/site analysis reports, engineer’s opinion of probable costs, project schedules, utility computations, local and state permit applications.
    • Complete edits and modify plans as reviewed by agencies, municipalities, and clients as directed.
    • Research local/state requirements as directed on properties and projects for zoning. Complete site visits and field assignments as required.
    • Review project survey data to analyze existing site conditions and factors to consider for development such as: legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, and easement documents.
    • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software packages to complete assignments on time and within prescribed standards as outlined in the Atwell Product Quality Manual.
    • Respond to review letters and modify plans from agencies, municipalities, and clients as directed.
    • Initiate communication with clients, municipalities, and agencies as the project requires in coordination with the Project Manager.
    • Communicate with Project Manager and Team Leader on workload status.
    • Expected to apply fundamental engineering concepts to practical situations.
    • Workload management skills.
    • Additional certifications or licenses held are a plus.
    • Train and mentor the project team on less complex projects.
    • Maintain various aspects of the project budget and schedule.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
    • Two to Four (2-4) plus years of experience is preferred.
    • Experience leading to knowledge of designing development projects.
    • Proficient in your group’s understanding and application of the following technical skills:
      • AutoCAD Civil 3D
      • Grading Design
      • Technical Writing
      • 3-D Modeling
      • MS Office
      • Plan Interpretation
